I watched 'This Morning' and the two gentlemen who were on the show to talk about their experience as POWs in WWII moved me to tears. During the two minutes silence, I stood and held my sleeping toddler while listening to Big Ben chime 11am, and I sobbed my heart out. Today I remembered the fallen, and their sacrifice, and I thought of those still serving, and those left with memories that will be with them forever, and those with injuries that have changed their lives forever. I also stood in memory of my beloved Grampy Charlie, who always stood and bowed his head to remember his comrades. Today my reasons to be cheerful are actually my reasons to be thankful, and I don't have just three, I have hundreds of thousands of reasons to be thankful.
My reasons are every single one of the service men and women who have and who still are serving our country, and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you.
“They shall grow not old as we that are left grow old, Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.” ~ Laurence Binyon (1869-1943)
