Sweetheart Shortbread [Recipe]
Erica and I made some 'Sweetheart Shortbread' today, it was super simple and tastes delicious, it was also a good practice run for making it for the children as a treat on Valentines Day.
- 125g/4oz Butter
- 55g/2oz Caster Sugar
- 180g/6oz Plain Flour
- Red or pink food colouring paste or gel
- Preheat your oven to 190c/375f/GM5
- Cream the butter and sugar together until smooth
- Add a touch of the food colouring paste and mix until colour is even, you don't need to add much with a paste or gel
- Incorporate the flour until you have a smooth paste
- Roll out on a prepared work surface to about 1cm thick
- Cut in to desired shape (I used hearts) and place on to baking sheet
- Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes or until pale golden brown
- Cool on a wire rack, then enjoy!
Ooh these look great, I think I'll give these a try with my son for Valentines - I'm usually really unenthusiastic about cooking with him (bad mummy) but these look nice and simple!
ReplyDeleteThanks! They were super easy, and very quick! I had Erica asking me for biscuits and so we whipped these up and gave them a Valentines inspired twist! They taste so good too! x
ReplyDeleteThese look so quick and easy which is great when I feel the need to bake and don't have time for something too fiddly. I suspect Spud might suggest making them in all colours :D
ReplyDeleteLovely simple recipe and not too many ingredients. Will give them a try.
ReplyDeleteWow, will do these for hubby's birthday
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely! I'm going to bake these with the kids.
