I have tried to pass my love of books on to the kids, A in particular has an impressive collection already (and has requested more for Christmas, she has an eclectic mix of your popular teen fiction along with some classics, as well as all of my old Point Horrors) and E loves nothing more than to sit and enjoy listening to anything by Julia Donaldson. The kids always get books for Christmas too, I'm still trying to coax the boys in to reading more and hope that the books I have chosen for them this year will aid my mission!
For the gallery this week, I have shared a snapshot of my book shelf, above my bed. These are the books I have read this year (er, minus the man books which I believe are easily identifiable amongst all that Jodi Picoult) as well as a couple I read previously. I apologise for the presence of the Fifty Shades books, I allowed myself to get suckered in to the hype, and I can never get that time back... Unfortunately I'm not even halfway through my 50 book challenge for this year, but there is always next year. One of my goals is definitely to find more time to sit and read, there is nothing I love more than getting lost in a good book.

Great post and love your shelf! Am kind of relieved you haven't made it to 50 books - it sounds like a tough challenge! I haven't set myself a challenge, but am keeping a record of the books read in a year for the first time. Currently on book 24!
ReplyDeleteAm only anywhere near the 50 book challenge if I am allowed to quadruple count those that I have read over and over from falling asleep after half a page!
ReplyDeleteYou can't beat getting lost in a good book can you? :)
ReplyDeleteVery neat bookshelf! I must be the only one who hasn't read Fifty Shades. I agree, really hoping my son doesn't become a 'typical boy' when it comes to reading. So far, so good, but he's only five...
ReplyDeleteI see your 50 shades are there too
ReplyDeleteFifty shades next to sporting biographies ;-) Interesting collection of reading matter x.

Im planning on completing a book challenge next year as I don't read enough despite having hundreds.
ReplyDeleteI used to love the same books as you especially Babysitters club! x
Oh me too, I love to get lost in words
ReplyDeleteFantastic! I am going to participate in a book challenge next year.
ReplyDeleteI have always enjoyed getting lost in a Book too. I just need to find more time to read some! It's great that your love of books is being passed onto your children too x
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of the fifty book challenge but I spend far to much time reading and writing blog posts and there just aren't enough hours in the day!
ReplyDeleteGreat shelf! A few of my favourite authors on there. I love a good read but do need to find more time to read books and not just blogs!
ReplyDeleteYou have that shelf above your bed? Hope it is fixed securly to the wall!
ReplyDeleteThose type of man books are always a disappointment very rarely well written IMO. Tough finding time to keep reading though isn't it with little ones and the small matter of blogging and twitter :)
