Thundercats Glow in the Dark 100pc Puzzle
H (who will be 7 this month) and I sat down to do the Thundercats Glow in the Dark 100 pc puzzle together in our jimjams on a lazy Sunday afternoon at home. This puzzle is recommended for ages 6+.
The first thing I noticed about this puzzle was how thick & strong the cardboard puzzle pieces were, which I thought was great. Very robust and made to last. The picture on the puzzle is vibrant and colourful, and brings to life the characters from the cartoon that was one of my own favourites from my childhood, so it was lovely to share that with H and tell him about the cartoons from "the good old days" (though I did make myself feel rather old in to the bargain).
We tested out the 'glow' in the evening (er, when it was dark!) and H - who is a big 'puzzler' - was very pleased with his handiwork. H did the majority of the building work with just a small hand from me to get him started (helping him find the corners & edge pieces). He quickly hit his stride and finished the puzzle in about an hour.
This is a fun and sturdy puzzle which suits the recommended age group, and H and I very much enjoyed building this together, we will no doubt happily complete this again and again. It was a lovely mother & son activity. The Thundercats Glow in the Dark Puzzle will be available from Toys R Us in time for Christmas.

Being the arty ones at Chez Mama Owl, A & H wanted to give the Aquarelle Safari watercolour painting a go (actually so did E and my niece N! Note to self... Don't leave things where toddlers can get them... Rookie mistake) and they did a beautiful job of it, too.
Aquarelle Safari by Ravensburger comes with three canvasses, a double ended paintbrush, liquid ink, a pipette and instructions. It will be available from Toys R Us in time for Christmas, and is recommended for ages 8-13. H is almost 7 and very much enjoyed using this with my supervision.

This new version of Twister is pretty funky, and teen quickly twigged on to the fact that she could plug her phone in and use it (a) to play along with the game using her own music and (b) as a speaker for her phone. Needless to say, I haven't seen it since we used it the first time. But I have heard it.
Twister Dance from Hasbro is great fun, play along by following the lights and stepping on the dots at beginner, intermediate or advanced levels, you can learn dance moves to tracks by Britney Spears, Ke$ha, Willow Smith & Cupid, and also make up your own moves to your favourite songs as it will connect to any MP3 player (and some mobile phones).
