This year I decided to take part in a challenge to read 50 books in 2012. Unfortunately I fell short of my goal, quite considerably as I only made it to 24. However, the only person I am challenging is myself and while I didn't manage to reach 50, I did make more time to sit and read than I have done in recent years.
Not one to give up, I am setting myself the same challenge for 2013. I received a new Kobo eReader from the Mister for Christmas so I hope that this will help me find more time to sneak in a few pages here and there and perhaps squeeze more in.
Would you like to join me?
I would love anyone who would like to join in to link up with me, perhaps blog your book reviews if you like and share your favourites to give me (and others) inspiration for which titles to read next, I know that I am always looking for new material to sink my teeth into.
I have updated my 50 Books for 2013 Challenge tab so that you have a point of reference to come back to if you need, or to share with others if you wish. I would love to have fellow lovers of books to share the challenge with me so if you are going to join in please leave a comment and let me know!
I have made a button and you can also join in with hashtag #50Books2013 so I can find you on twitter too. It's not a race or a competition, just a gentle personal reminder to make time for ourselves to enjoy reading. There will be no set day to link up, just post & link as and when and then I will do a little monthly round-up and share your posts and anything else you would like to add. I aim to post the round-up around 28th-30th of the month so if you can get your posts to me (email or @ me on Twitter) by the 26th/27th at the latest that would be grand. I hope that some of you will join in with me.

If you would like, you can leave your blog URL here so that all participants can check back and find each other too. Thanks!

Hi MamaOwl, great idea - I have this hankering to read a lot of children's classics before it's time for my kids to, and this might just help me get there. Brilliant, cheers!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, I look forward to taking part in the challenge with you! Thanks for linking up x
DeleteThat is a truly worth challenge, alas there is no hope in hell of me ever reading 50 books in a year. I love reading but time is hard to find with 2 little ones, work and blogging.
ReplyDeleteYes it is a lot more difficult than I anticipated hence me failing to make it even halfway this year, I am hoping to make more time for reading instead of vegging in front of the TV. I don't know that I will manage 50 but I *will make more time for myself to read!
DeleteI'm looking forward to joining in with this though I know 50 is going to be impossible for me, even if I manage half it will be a miracle! I have soooooo many unread books on my shelves and kindle it really is a crime :)
ReplyDeleteAs promised, I have made a blog just for this :-D
ReplyDeleteSoph x
I am going to do this and link up! When I get home I shall link up with you (we're away for a few days at the moment) I'm really looking forward to doing this :-) xx
ReplyDeleteOnce I get on the laptop later I will link up :-)
ReplyDeleteI love this idea and since having my little girl I've gone from reading constantly to maybe 3 books a year, joining in should help me remember to read! Thanks for setting this up :-) xx
Perfect! I decided to challenge myself to 50 books this year too (and 300 picture books, but that should be easy ) :-)
ReplyDeleteYay! Count me in!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant challenge, I'm in :o)
ReplyDeleteWould love to know what you think of 'The Snow Child' xx
I'm looking forward to taking part in this. :-) x
ReplyDeleteI found this via Sonya Cisco and I love the idea! I'm in although I doubt I'll get to 50, I received Casual Vacancy by JK Rowling for Christmas so that will be my first book. I'll get a post up too announcing my particpation
ReplyDeleteI would love to join you all on this. I've been meaning to read more for ages and this should give me the push to do so. I'm currently reading a great self help book, and will move on to a novel next.
ReplyDeleteCount me in, don't think I'll make it but I'm up for a challenge!
ReplyDeleteDon't know why I'd not joined up properly (must have got distracted)...I'm doing the challenge and blogging about it, tweeting etc. Durr. All right and joined the linky now though.
ReplyDeleteI know I'm late to the party....and not a very consistent Blogger atm! But saw this and thought it sounded fun!
ReplyDeleteHi Mama Owl, I've signed up to your book challenge and it's a great idea. I a new blogger and a bit behind at this stage but I will do my best to get back into reading again, I haven't read so much since our baby was born almost 6 months ago now, but this has given me the inspiration to get back doing something I love!
