The theme for #TheGallery this week is "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas", I'm looking forward to having a look through the posts and seeing everyone's take on it.
The big day is fast approaching but I personally prefer to enjoy the preparation and build up, and not just making it solely about 'the day'. We make the most of the time by baking festive treats like gingerbread men and chocolate candy cane cookies and making Christmas crafts, deciding as a family what we'd like to have for our Christmas dinner & desserts, wrapping presents together (for family, as Father Christmas of course is responsible for delivering the children's gifts!) and enjoying the quality time spent together doing all of that on the whole rather than just making it about receiving presents.
One thing we have done (as well as the rest of the internet it would seem!) is made salt dough Christmas decorations together which was fun, it was so simple to do and the little two got stuck in with making the dough and cutting out - we ended up with some interesting shapes - and even A got involved with painting. We'll definitely be doing it again next year and adding it to our family Christmas traditions.

You're right, it shouldn't just be about the day, enjoy your christmas preparations, Merry Christmas xxx
ReplyDeleteLove your salt dough hand shapes - a good way of keeping a record of how they've grown.
ReplyDeleteThose are fantastic decorations!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely! I think I need to take a leaf out of your book and try to make the build-up more enjoyable. I hate all the work that goes into Christmas and of course I'm the only person doing it! The only thing I enjoy are all the kids' performances. Time to be more positive, I think!
ReplyDeleteLoving the handprints. Some crafty folk out there today!
ReplyDeleteLovely, those salt dough decorations looks fab!
ReplyDeleteLoving the decorations idea, we've made little cardboard trees to hang from ours x Super Christmassy photos :)
ReplyDeleteI see what you mean! Snap! I'm not crafty at all but I can do salt dough so we always do some this time of year. Yours look fab, I love the hand prints, that's a great idea
ReplyDeleteThey look fantastic. I am definitely feeling inspired to make some salt dough.
ReplyDeleteSalt dough decorations are a revelation to me. Made some for the first time this year and loved it. I did rather take over and tell the kids what to paint, colour choices and how much glitter was too much glitter. Must let them do their own thing next year :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat salt dough decorations! Lovely photos x
ReplyDeleteLovely decorations, I was only thinking earlier, I've done absolutely no Christmas crafting this year.
