Mama OWL Blog: What E Wore - The Spring Edit

What E Wore - The Spring Edit

Tuesday, 1 April 2014

Miss E has finally had a growth spurt, however this also means that it is time to have a good old clear out of her wardrobe. She's turning 4 at the end of next month, and has finally moved up in to 4-5 years clothing so she did end up getting pretty good wear out of the things she already had - which is always a good thing!

Now, E loves a pretty dress and I was delighted that Zulily UK recently had the Sweet Elegance toddler dresses back on offer, so I snapped up three of my favourites ready for the Spring/Summer and of course for her to wear on our family holiday to France later on this year.
Sweet Elegance dresses at Zulily UK
My favourite shops for E's clothes are Zulily UK, H&M, Matalan (especially their PJs) and Pumpkin Patch (only in the sale, and if you sign up to their email newsletter they often send through promo codes that will save you some pennies) though I also shop in supermarkets & charity shops - I've found some great pre-loved branded bargains including Monsoon, Boden & Joules for just a couple of pounds. H&M are brilliant for mix & match wardrobe staples such as leggings & jersey tops that are inexpensive but stylish, and I have also found that they wash and wear amazingly well.

All of E's leggings needed replacing as she just wore them to death, so I have replenished her leggings drawer with several pairs of navy, black, white & pink - colours that will match basically all of her dresses, shorts & tunics and can be popped underneath on a chillier day or for a visit to the park. Later on, as her H&M Summer dresses get a bit too short to still be considered 'dresses', they can then be worn as tunics with leggings which extends their life and of course saves you money.

E also wears a pair of black leggings with a plain long sleeved black jersey top to her gymnastics class every week, a snug fit so safe to wear but cosy and comfortable too. The basic t-shirts and long sleeved tops are great value for money, and the long sleeved can be worn layered under the short sleeved t-shirts on cold days, again another way to increase the life span of clothing when the weather starts to turn later in the year.

E's favourites of my recent purchases have to her new denim jacket - perfect for Spring evenings and those days where it's too warm for a coat but not quite warm enough to go without - that will of course match everything she has in her wardrobe, and her new cowboy cowgirl boots.
H&M toddler clothing
H&M have some beautiful jersey dresses (E is wearing 4-6y - above right) in right now priced at just £2.99 each (I've bought her four out of the current designs available), and this absolutely gorgeous lace dress that I just fell in love with and as you can see, E rather liked it too (above left)! I've also bought her a few long sleeved dresses (also 4-6y) for those cooler days.

Warm layers and basketball boots
E loves to play in the park and so for all of that running around, she needs some good comfy running shoes. I've bought her some basketball boots in purple & hot pink and she already has two other pairs in grey & dark pink, they're only £5.99 a pair and I have found that they last very well. I have successfully put them through the washer on a gentle cycle to bring them up again after she's tramped them through every muddy patch she can find.

She's pretty much ready for the new season now. Everything is mix & match and will go with her treggings & chinos, I just need to buy her a pair or two of jeans & a couple of cardigans and she will be all set. I've also started buying her school uniform and putting it away ready for September, it will be here before I know it!

  1. She looks fab! I love choosing clothes for my girl (although she tends to choose more than me these days!) I know she would love E's denim jacket and those boots are so funky.
