Mama OWL Blog: Holiday Shopping with Joe Browns

Holiday Shopping with Joe Browns

Wednesday, 4 June 2014

With our family Summer holiday to France fast approaching I have been browsing the web to find myself some holiday wardrobe essentials. I'm a fan of the maxi dress primarily, and my wardrobe is well stocked with those, however I do lack anything to wear poolside.

Joe Browns very kindly sent me a lovely selection of items from their holiday shop, so I'm now 'holiday ready'.

While I do generally tend to stick to clothing that covers my legs (I may be a bit 'weird' about them...), I'm not averse to a bikini because frankly I don't fancy swimming fully clothed. I utterly adore their Funky Print Tankini which is not only aesthetically pleasing with its vivid printed top, it is very flattering with ruched detailing at the hip and a solid deep purple (one of my favourite colours) bikini bottom. I'm 5'10 and often find that tankini tops are too short in the body, but this one is a great length (it is also adjustable) and well fitting.
Honestly, none of the pictures I took do it justice, it is absolutely gorgeous & feels great on.

The Bar Brahma Dress is the perfect 'beach to bar' dress, ideal to pop on over your swimsuit if you're poolside, or maybe off for a stroll around the town. It's very comfortable to wear as well as pretty, with its monochrome print & shirring detail under the bust and around the sleeves , and practical.

Floral print flip flops from Joe Browns
If you're off for a wander around town or just want something to slip on & off when you're next to the pool (or you want to avoid frying your feet on the sand!) then these fabulous printed flip flops are just the thing. Priced at only £5.95 and in a lovely floral print with pink toe post, they are the perfect holiday footwear - comfy & light, as well as easy on the purse strings.

If you're going away this Summer, hopefully my handy holiday essentials check list will help you with your packing :

Towel (one for the beach/pool, one for the shower)
 2-3 Swimsuits
Flip flops, comfy walking footwear (for excursions & travelling) and evening footwear (although personally I just stick with my flip flops!)
Accessories for evening, try & choose things you can mix & match with all of your holiday outfits so you don't have to take your entire jewellery collection
 Beach/pool bag & evening bag
Outfits for day & evening, beach to bar dresses make for lighter packing! Don't forget comfy travelling clothes, too

Your eReader of choice preloaded with all of your holiday reads, or an old fashioned paperback or 2
 Camera/Phone and charger(s)/batteries
 Travel Adaptors
 All relevant documents
Copies of all relevant documents, keep them separate & I would personally leave a set at home, too

Suncream, and after-sun (I always keep mine in the fridge, refreshing!)
First Aid kit (plasters, paracetamol, anti-diarrhoea meds etc)
Personal care items (deodorant, shampoo & hair care products, toothbrush & paste, razor, tweezers, make up, etc)
Hair bands & brush, straighteners etc
Wetwipes (I never go anywhere without them)

Happy travels!
