H turns 9 later this month and has been busy planning his birthday party for MONTHS. I kid you not. This year he has had his heart set on a swimming party at the local pool - after last year's last minute change - and because we like to keep it funny and we have a mildly twisted sense of humour, we thought that the perfect theme for his pool party would be SHARKS!
We will have exclusive use of the main pool (with floats & toys) for an hour, and unfortunately there is no where to have a party meal at the venue, so the Mister and I will again (the same as we did last year) be packing and handing out lunch boxes for H's party guests. We've opted not to have a big cake to cut for the party due to the space restraints and instead will make individual cupcakes to hand out with the lunch boxes and party bags.
Party Delights have kindly sent us some of their fantastic range of 'Shark' & 'Under The Sea' themed partyware for H's special day. We have invitations, loot bags for party goodies for his chums, party boxes for the food, and some clever cupcake wrappers with shark fin picks to pop in the icing on the top!
The Shark Splash & Under the Sea partyware is available to purchase from PartyDelights.co.uk. The high quality invitation cards come in packs of 8 at £2.55 per pack, matching plastic loot bags are £1.29 per pack of 8 and the cupcake wrappers & picks are only £3.49 per 12pk. Plain coloured or printed party boxes are just 38p per box & come in a range of colours and designs.
We have (I say we... Mostly me) been busy writing his invitations ready to hand out to his friends from school and rugby over the next couple of weeks, and we have also been planning the Under the Sea theme party food menu.
I've made a Pinterest board to gather ideas for things to complement the theme, including "sub" sandwiches, & cheese triangles as 'shark teeth'. I also really love the little grape skewer seaweed, I think it looks so effective! And the crab croissants are an inspired idea - one I'll definitely be using. I hope I can put together something fun as well as healthy and tasty for them all.
I'm still searching for ideas for party bag goodies. I was thinking along the lines of some gummy worms as 'bait', gold chocolate coins as 'treasure', fortune teller fish (remember those?! Little fish that flip in your hand to 'tell your fortune') and perhaps some of those funky touchable bubbles amongst other things. Do you have any suggestions for items that fit with the theme?
