Mama OWL Blog: My Sunday Photo(s)

My Sunday Photo(s)

Sunday, 4 January 2015

Yesterday E had her cousin F round to play, which kept her entertained and meant that I had some free time to get some things done, such as drink a cup of coffee in relative peace for the first time in two weeks.

E is 4.5 and F is 5 so they both share a lot of the same interests. Or, Frozen.

They spent the day playing together really nicely save for the usual squabbles over toys here and there, and it was so nice to not have E demanding my attention most of the day. She misses her friends when she's not at school and her older siblings tend to either hang out together or spend their time with more solitary pursuits (also known as playing on their electronic *whatever*) so E doesn't really get a look in at home. Having someone her own age to play with is brilliant for her and luckily I have two nieces and a nephew all of similar age (E, F, N & C were all born between June 2009 & July 2010) - although I think my nephew is more interested in Spiderman than dressing up as a Frozen Princess and twirling around the living room singing.

E & F had a great time putting all of the things E got for Christmas through their paces. They made drawings and used stickers to create their own masterpieces, dressed up in E's Anna & Elsa dresses and acted out Frozen from start to finish - songs and dialogue. We used up some of the Christmas leftovers and made our own chocolate bark, by melting some of the chocolates and adding things like biscuits, smarties & pretzels. Then they got the play-doh out and spent a fair amount of time building towers with the pots as well as making things with the actual dough, before sitting down and playing with E's dolls. They had a really fun day together.

I couldn't pick just one photo, so you get four of my favourites.

  1. Ahh their outfits are adorable and they remind me of my z and niece together. Both of them love Frozen too although z loves to be Olaf all the time :)

  2. What lovely photos! So nice to have cousins of a similar age to grow up together. My sister lives far away so our children haven't had that. X

  8. These are all lovely photos. As my son is set to be an only child, it would be lovely if we lived a little nearer cousins to provide these kind of play opportunities. Also have to comment on your black and white floor - I absolutely love it!

    1. Towards the end of the day (5pm) when they started getting tired, the volume increased! But they actually played really nicely and calmly together, I think it was because they were left in peace to play with no younger ones interfering. It was lovely :)

  15. Awww what gorgeous photos of them both, they look like they are having so much fun. So smiley. How lovely to have a cousin so close in age, my girls don't have any cousins and my sister is ten years younger than me and not likely to have any little people soon. It must be lovely to grow up together. xx
