Their experience of the beach and seaside has so far been limited to UK beaches such as Weymouth and Cornwall, and so to visit a beach resort abroad with a plethora of watersports and activities available to them was a wonderful new adventure and one they all thoroughly enjoyed. We have come home after the most fantastic week and the children are full of stories of their fun days learning new things & making new friends.
Considering that just a couple of years ago, L was deathly afraid of water and wouldn't even get his face wet, to see him readily wade into the sea to go kayaking, windsurfing and sailing was a moment I will never forget. For the last two years he has had private 1:2:1 swimming lessons and has made amazing progress - even on the occasion he had a 'moment' during sailing with his dad and launched himself into the sea off the edge of their boat after declaring the Mister 'an idiot' (fret not - he is a good swimmer now, was wearing a safety vest, and the safety boat is always nearby) I was actually a little bit proud that he had just jumped into the sea and started swimming. Don't tell him that.
E has never swam in the sea, she's done a little bit of paddling but let's be honest - it's never quite warm enough here at home to fully enjoy our beautiful beaches. She was thrilled to discover that the sea was warm in Corsica when she paddled in, she couldn't wait to get out there with Mini Club. Not once did I see her falter, she was lined up with her new chums waiting to climb on the boat or the board - no fear and no hesitation.
I am so proud of their bravery and their willingness to try new things and step out of their comfort zones. They were brilliant at their clubs and really got involved with the games and activities, and tried hard to make new friends and enjoy the holiday experience. They were an absolute joy to watch last week, I only wish that A & J would have been there with us too - roll on October when it'll be all 7 of us together!

That's amazing! What a brilliant experience for them all. It sounds like L especially did brilliantly, having overcome his fear of water he's made incredible progress.
